About Us

Welcome to UpSkill. UpSkill is a nonprofit organization that contributes to the cause of educational equity. Reflecting on the gap in educational opportunities across the country, our goal is to ensure that all students have an equal chance at success by offering accessible academic resources. Therefore, UpSkill created a variety of academic resources available to students at no cost.

 

UpSkill’s main service is providing free tutoring. UpSkill’s tutors are all undergraduate or graduate students who have been fully trained and background checked. They go through a multitude of interviews, tests, and biweekly meetings to ensure they are up to date on the most modern and effective tutoring techniques. Our tutors receive volunteering hours for their services to ensure that our tutoring remains free and is accessible to students of all backgrounds.

Recently, at UpSkill we have expanded our approach to addressing education inequities by introducing a college readiness program to assist first-generation students in applying for college, a community education and awareness program to educate people on important topics in education and the Syracuse community. We implemented a committee to organize fundraisers to give back to the community and support other organizations who share our values.
